- Why does my dad strongly discourage steady dating in high school?
- How can my family benefit from each member following the ideas of this theory?
- What are the advantages/disadvantages of following the Funnel Theory?
- How do the views of this theory from an LDS perspective and non-LDS perspective compare?
- Is steady dating in high school actually bad?
- Are there theories to improve lasting marriages, other than the Funnel theory?
- Have people tried it, and has it worked?
Thesis: Although most teenagers think having a serious relationship in high school is the only way to be happy, steady dating in high school should be avoided completely because these serious relationships cause low self-esteem, more depression, and lead to a greater risk of divorce.
I really like your topic! That is so cool! If I were you, I would make sure to come up with non-lds evidence that dating too young can cause problems. I would pull in statistics and other evidence that a more worldly person could support. ---Rachel Gibbons
ReplyDeleteI would find research on people who steadily dated in highschool and those who didn't and then find out which group was more sexually active. That might help you understand your dad's reasoning.
ReplyDeleteI would interview someone who did steady date in high school and see how that affected their life, and then also interview someone who didn't steady date, then compare and contrast those.
ReplyDeleteHonestly, you can have positive and negative experiences either way. So I would interview a few people you know well and admire without asking them first if they steady dated....and then have that be the first question of your interview and they can explain in further detail. You may be surprised to discover who of your friends/family did and did not steady date.
ReplyDeleteHmmm, I really like your fourth bullet: comparing LDS and non-LDS views on this subject. I think that would be very interesting, and seeing the long-term effects of both. Great idea for a paper!
ReplyDeleteI really like your thesis! You have an argument and points to talk about. I think that you could maybe change the period before steady to a comma so you you don't have a fragment. Other than that, I think your argument will be golden!
ReplyDeletereally cool thesis. To me it sounds weird when i read it. I like the argument but i would just revise the structure of your thesis.
